Social Media Behind Closed Doors: My First Blog Post!

Hey there! Welcome to my first blog post, I am so glad you are here. It is so exciting to be able to write about the things I am passionate about on this site. I will feel so accomplished once I post this, even if it just reaches my grandma and my best friend. My goal is not to be the top beauty blog on the internet; that is unrealistic. My goal is to share some fun, valuable, and uplifting information, and hopefully make at least one person's day. Or even make them happier than when they came.
I wanted to begin my first post by outlining the message I want to convey. Basically social media sucks. Despite having heard this before, social media still sucks. In this post, I wanted to demonstrate that social media isn't what it seems, and everything we see from morning to night is probably edited. Even though I try to keep my Instagram pictures as authentic as possible, most of my pictures do have filters. Being constantly bombarded with skinny, clear-skinned, trendy people takes its toll on you. Our minds are filled with this sort of unrealistic image of how we should behave and look. With my own photos, I wanted to demonstrate how fake social media can be. In the top photo, you can see my clean, aesthetically pleasing bedroom, but that is not what it looks like behind the scenes. Behind the camera, I have baskets of clothes, homework, and folders. Even though my pictures make it appear that way, my room is not always clean. It's one of the many lies social media tells us every day.
Since Tik Tok launched in 2016, it has caused many self-conscious thoughts and negative views of ourselves. When we are scrolling through our “For You Page” we are greeted by conventionally pretty faces and perfect lives. Making us believe this is how we should live our lives in order to be accepted. During one time, I was so self-conscious that I scrolled through other people's pages to learn how to be like them. After a while, I realized that in order to be happy, I needed to surround myself with positive people. My following page is filled with creators who promote positivity, such as @spencer.barbosa, @imnotbunny, and @spiritualyogi. My goal is to have as many positive videos on my feed as possible, so I always interact with their posts.
For a while, I had a hard time convincing myself that I was enough and that the way I was living was enough, too. Throughout this blog, I hope to take a deeper dive into social media toxicity, skincare, fashion, and much much more. My blog is a place where you can read anything from mental health tips to what I've been wearing this week.
I have not been more excited about starting something in a very long time. You are welcome to message me on the site for writing ideas or if you want to write with me! Thanks for reading!
Lot’s of Love,
